About Me
Karen Crinall lectures in Community Welfare and Counselling,and is the course coordinator for the Master of Human Services Management. Shehas over twenty five years experience working, researching and teaching in thehuman services sector. As a researcher Karen has conducted practice-based andacademic projects utilising feminist, visual and participatory action researchmethods. Karen has published on the topics of women and homelessness, familyviolence and homelessness policy reform, rural and regional responses to socialchange, working with young women, the visual representation of homeless womenand young people, social documentary photography of women as homeless, and theuse of arts-based methods in social science research. Karen’s qualificationsspan the visual arts, education and social sciences. She is currently a memberof the SAFER ARC Linkage project, researching the Victorian integrated familyviolence reforms, and is also engaged in researching management issues in humanservice organisations, restrictive interventions in disability accommodation services and Australian Indigenous leadership in addressing family violence atthe community level.
